Care & Maintenance
Glass products must be properly cleaned as part of a routine maintenance schedule in order to maintain visual and aesthetic clarity. As dirt and residue appear, interior and exterior surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned.
Before cleaning, it should be determined whether the glass is clear, tinted, reflective or incorporates high performance coatings. Special care must be taken when cleaning reflective or coated glass as surface damage is more noticeable on these products. Scratching may result in coating removal and visible change in light transmittance and overall performance. Tinted or reflective products should not be cleaned in direct sunlight or when exposed to excessive amounts of heat. Always clean from top to bottom to avoid the possibility of residue and cleaning products remaining on the glass.
All jewellery should be removed and water-proof gloves worn.
Cleaning should begin with soaking the glass surface with a solution of clean water and a mild non-abrasive detergent whilst using a soft bristled brush or applicator. A squeegee should then be used to completely remove the solution from the glass surface. Do not use a squeegee on coated surfaces. In this case a dry lint free cloth should be used. All liquid should be removed from rubber seals and perimeter framing using a soft clean cloth to avoid potential deterioration as a result of the cleaning process.
Avoid using ammonia-based or alcohol-based cleaners as these products tend to leave streaks.
Spot cleaning may be required to remove stubborn dirt, grease, oil or tape adhesives. Acetone solvents may be used in accordance with manufacturers recommendations and warnings.
All jewellery should be removed and water-proof gloves worn.
Rub a small amount of acetone-based cleaner on the affected areas using a soft wet clean cloth. Dry with a soft clean cloth and administer standard cleaning prcedure as outlined above.
Central Coast Shopfronts strongly advises against the use of razor blades, steel wool, scouring bristles, or other metallic or abrasive objects during cleaning procedures. These items must NEVER be used on coated surfaces.
